Kerem (כרם) means “vineyard” in Hebrew. The word comes from the Bible, written in Israel. Throughout the Bible, there is mention of wine, showcasing the two-thousand year-old history of Israeli wine. Yet, despite a modern wine industry that is making some of the world’s best wine — and has been doing so for over 20 years — Israeli wine is not known or appreciated outside of a very select elite outside of the country. My family has been in the wine business for over two generations, and I think it’s about time that I - part of Generation Y - continue that tradition to bring Israeli wine to a global audience and also explore issues unique to the younger and newest generation of wine consumers, of which I am a part of.
HaKerem: The Israeli Wine Blog (israelwine.wordpress.com) is here to bring the latest and also the greatest on the Israeli wine world — from the latest releases, to an exploration of the over 150 different wineries in Israel, to a discussion — and please join in — on how to help the world discover this hidden gem: יין ישראלי (Yayin Yisraeli, or Israeli wine). L’chaim!

As many Israeli’s that move back from Silicon Valley to Israel, we leave behind Napa and Sonoma, only to discover Ramat Hagolan, Jerusalem hills, Carmel, etc. Need source for learning more about what we have here. Thanks for blogging.

This most important web log is an ambassador for the Israeli wine industry, and perhaps the English language window on our wineries and wines. May the world wide wine lovers be astonished, amazed and amused. LeChaim and Good Luck.
