I want to point out a little-known feature of this blog – the store. Yes, one of the important functions of HaKerem is not merely a list of wine essentials – from books, DVDs, and accessories like stemware and wine fridges – but also the opportunities to order them online via Amazon.com.
I want to just quickly highlight a few offerings, but I strongly encourage you to check it out and make a purchase. If there are products you think are missing, let me know.
Rogov’s Guide to 2008 Wines – the latest guide, with tasting notes, of Israeli wines. Includes many wines only available in Israel, but also includes some unique offerings only for exports.
You can also pre-order the 2009 guide today and guarantee the best price.
On that note, Israel’s top wine critic Daniel Rogov also has a food book that came out about a year ago that is well worth reading.
Of course, Israel is not just wine but also food. A fascinating and excellent coffee table book called The Book of New Israeli Food (including an excellent chapter on Israeli wine by Adam Montefiore) about the New Israeli cuisine is also a great book that I can heartily recommend.
There is also Hip Tastes, a new book by California sommelier, that aims to educate 20-30something women about wine that is a great easy read. Courtney Cochran will hopefully be answering some questions on this very blog soon – read her book beforehand.
To learn about wine, there’s also the latest Windows on the World wine course and Janis Robinson’s Oxford Companion to Wine (which I have yet to get, but Israel’s Adam Montefiore is also a contributor)
There’s also fridges and excellent value-priced Riedel stemware.
